Why Comply? Our Guide To Upgrading Ear Tips For IEMs

Comply

In-ear isolating earphones are becoming more and more popular, and because of this you can get a great quality earphone whatever your budget. People are now able to experience high quality sound at an affordable price, and once you get bitten by the hifi bug then you will be looking for ways to get even better sound from your in-ears. Most earphones come with a selection of tips, this is important as you need to create a good seal to get the best sound – any leak in the seal will mean loss of bass and an overall thin sound. Silicone ear tips are the most common and they certainly do the job, they can become uncomfortable after some time and they can also make earphones sound harsh and fatiguing – This is where Comply comes in!

Comply Foam Tips are made with high-tech, polyurethane foam. This heat-sensitive, breathable foam conforms to the shape of the ear canal, providing a perfect in-ear fit. The foam’s passive noise-reduction technology seals out unwanted ambient sound and funnels pure music directly into the ear canal, without leaking bass.

Thirty times softer than the silicone used on ordinary, factory-supplied earphones, Comply Foam Tips are extraordinarily comfortable, reducing irritation and fatigue and leaving listeners with clear, crisp sound.

Most high end earphones come with Comply tips supplied (or the brand equivalent), but earphones under the £100 price point generally only come with standard silicone tips – these are the models that benefit most from adding a pack of Comply tips to your purchase.

The main earphones that will benefit from this are the Audiofly AF33, SoundMAGIC E10/E10S, DUNU DN12, Shure SE112, RHA MA600 and the Final Audio Adagio III. Out of the box all of the mentioned earphones will sound great, but once you replace the silicone tips with Comply then that’s when they really come to life. The first thing you will notice is the bass, there will be more of it but it will be controlled – with the silicone tips the bass will feel recessed and flabby. Another way the Comply tips improve the sound quality is by reducing the harshness from the top end, this makes the earphones less fatiguing at louder volumes. The overall sound will open up and balance out to give you a much more enjoyable listening experience with tighter/fuller bass and smooth detail that won’t tire the ears.

Comply tips come in a range of models and sizes to suit your needs and the earphones that you will use them with. The most popular is the T-series (Isolation), these tips provide a perfect balance of isolation and comfort. The S-series (Active) are the softest and most comfortable, but they won’t isolate as well and are not as durable as the others. The Ts-series (Comfort) are a spherical shape and are designed to be a more comfortable alternative to the T-series. Finally you have the P-series (Professional), which have the highest level of isolation due to them being longer than the others – this gives them a deeper insertion. The T and Ts tips also come with the option of a built in wax guard (Tx and Tsx).

Once you have chosen the type of tip that you want, you then need to make sure that they fit your earphones. It is important to make sure you get the right size tips because once they are opened, they can’t be returned (due to hygiene reasons). The Comply website has an online ‘Tip Finder’ which lists all of the compatible earphones and which tips are required – www.complyfoam.com
