Struggling to hear what people are saying on TV? Who isn’t these days. Aside from slight tinnitus, my hearing is pretty good. Yet, there are so many films and TV shows where the sound department has somehow decided that the audio soundtrack and sound effects are more important than what is being said between the characters. So, for those with hearing loss or issues that impact being able to listen to speech, this must get very, very annoying.
With the OSKAR, Faller has set out to revolutionise this technology and I believe that they have done this very well. The simplicity of the design and controls shows that they have paid serious attention to what is needed from a speaker like this. The team behind Faller has clearly listened to feedback and this really does show. The sound quality is also very impressive, and coming from the same team as Sonoro I am not surprised.
They’re not quick, accurate or bright, but who wants any of that when music flows like honey. You will feel naughty for enjoying these; and so you should.
Thanks to Sony, Bose & Apple, the thought of spending £300+ on true wireless earphones is far from unheard of. Here are the best alternatives!
The new Solaris ‘Stellar Horizon’ is Campfire's best IEM yet and really shows how much the team loves doing what they do.
The legend has been entirely re-imagined, with not only new technologies internally, this new Andromeda ‘Emerald Sea’ has also been redesigned with a new shell shape too. Do not fear though.
Make sure to consider the ZE8000 when looking to invest in your portable audio. I know where my money would go.
The audio world has been anticipating this moment, and now the wait is over. Japanese audio specialists final has announced the launch of their new flagship ZE8000 true wireless earphones. Since 2009, final has been at the forefront of portable audio, and their most recent flagship releases have influenced the creation and development of the ZE8000. In 2017, final released their D8000 flagship headphone which incorporated their very own planar magnetic technology (AFDS); developed in-house by final engineers. Later in 2019, the A8000 flagship wired earphone was released, utilising final’s truly pure Beryllium diaphragm driver; again designed and developed in-house....
The Orbit provides audio that surpasses what the other popular brands would only dream of. Yes, you don’t get noise cancelling or fancy app tech with 1,000,000 features. What you do get is a product made by one of the best in the audio biz, and sound that you would normally need to pay over £1000 for (not to mention have a nice cable, good quality DAP etc…). Nicely done.
For under £99 Cleer has released a speaker that easily competes with the competition. The sound is ideal for those who prefer a more clarity focused sound and want to get away from boomy bass.
Campfire Audio have managed to take the Andromeda and make it better. The new Andromeda ticks all the boxes and as a whole package, I can’t think of another earphone that delivers as much in terms of design, sound and features for any price.
The best way to avoid a lot of potential issues, is to keep your headphones or earphones inside a case. Not only will this look after them and keep the cable safe and tangle free, cases will also help avoid dust or dirt getting into places you don’t want it to.
The Cleer Goal is obviously designed for active use, and perform very well in this setting. Once you have found the right fit, they will stay in place and the added benefit of hearing your surroundings makes them ideal for jogging or even going for a long walk while listening to your favourite podcast.
The Cleer Crescent smart speaker was one of the stars at this year's CES, and TechHive were quick to award the impressively designed speaker their Best of CES 2021 award
